snowflakes of the season later on this afternoon. adam caskey is on snowflake what. good morning. >> good morning. we are expecting snow flakes for the evening commute. the driving to work is just fine. you'll notice blustery conditions for the midday. the drive home -- a light rain, but mainly some light snow. road temperatures are between 37 and 41 degrees, not expecting much accumulation on the road. there -- it will not be heavy enough in the washington area. especially during the rush hour as more cars are driving, that keeps the road temperatures up. closer to baltimore, a different story. heavier snow, and some accumulation on the roadways. grassy services, a little trace. that much possible later today. that is about it. still a one out of hand with this storm. look at the flags in the background close to the washington monument. normally this day -- time they would be limp but look how they are moving -- the wind is picking up. that coastal storm which is basically due east of the tidewater area is intensifying and we will continue to see those winds increase through the day. hig

adam caskey is out in storm chaser 7. things just cloudy out there right now. hey, adam. >> yeah, cloudy, but the wind is picking up. we're outside the washington monument here on the national mall. we'll actually take a closer look at the flags that surround the monument, and that will give you a good clue as to how the wind is picking up. it's not a windy morning, but you will notice that wind gradually increasing. out here in the open especially around the monument you can see the flags starting to whip there. the winds will be at about 10 to 20 miles per hour out of the north throughout the day today, with some higher gusts, as the coastal storm starts to ramp up. currently the coastal storm is just east of the tidewater region of virginia off shore. i'm going to get to the forecast in one second. first let's take a look at a beautiful picture from my facebook friend, mike. he posted this last night on my facebook page. i just love it. look at the beautiful sunset we had. the clouds started to roll in. with that low-angle light from t

to 34 degrees. we'll show you the seven-day forecast with adam caskey, who's watching for the snowflakes. here's out with storm chaser 7 this morning. it's quiet now, adam, but i know you're excited about even just one, if you could see that, huh? >> yeah, i think we'll have a few flakes later on today, like you were talking about. my snow excitement factor is at a one on a scale of one to 10. so that just means a little bit of snow later this afternoon and evening with minor accumulations, just on some grassy surfaces, and that's it. we don't have all that much moisture associated with this system that's going to hit the metro area. down on the eastern shore, closer to baltimore, up towards philadelphia they'll have more moisture and of course, more snowfall. around here, within the ax 7 viewing area -- within the abc 7 viewing area, want a big deal. take a look at the washington monument behind me, especially the beautiful flags, the american flags that surround the monument. notice they have picked up a little bit.
